L. Michael Hall Ph.D.
L. Michael Hall, Ph.D. has a doctorate in Cognitive-Behavioral psychology from Union Institute University, Cincinnati, worked for years as a psychotherapist and is now a best-selling author, entrepreneur, and modeler. As a leading visionary leader in NLP and Neuro-Semantics, he is a developer of models for business, coaching, and creativity.
Dr Hall is currently focusing on developing the models and tools that empower people to take the great ideas, understandings, principles, and visions in their minds—the richly meaningful meanings (semantics) and translating them into their day-by-day actions, activities, and performances to experience them in the body and physiology (neuro-). This is what Neuro-Semantics is about—performing our greatest and highest meanings in everyday life. The reason for this focus in Neuro-Semantics is that most people get stuck in the translation process. They know more than they can do. Often what they know, they can't get themselves to do when shove comes to push. They suffer a gap between what they know and understand intellectually and what they can actually do in performance. Their skills and competencies do not fully actualize their knowledge. They suffer a Knowing-Doing Gap. Dr. Hall focuses on closing the Knowing-Doing Gap in Wealth Creation, Health and Fitness, Meta-Coaching, Platform Skills, Leadership, and many other skill competency trainings which has led to the development of the Neuro-Semantic Mind-to-Muscle pattern, the Self-Actualization Quadrants, the Matrix Model of Self-Actualization and the Meta-Coach Training System.
Michael's history prior to his doctorate included a Masters in Clinical Counseling (Regis University, Denver), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the State of Colorado, a B.S. in Management of Human Resources, and a M.A. in Biblical Language and Literature. For years he operated an NLP Training Center in Colorado, wrote several books for and about NLP co-founder Richard Bandler, modeled the subject of Resilience in the early 1990s during which he create the Meta-States model (1994) which was awarded the "most significant contribution to the field of NLP, 1995" by t he International Trainer's Association of NLP. He co-created the field of Neuro-Semantics with Dr. Bob Bodenhamer (1996) and established The International Society of Neuro-Semantics (ISNS). In 2002, he co-created with Michelle Duval the Meta-Coach Training System and in 2003 they created the Meta-Coach Foundation. (MCF). As a prolific writer, Michael has written more than 35 books, many best sellers in the field of NLP.
In moving from Therapy to Coaching, Dr. Hall moved from traditional Cognitive psychology (REBT) to Logo-Therapy, Reality Therapy, and to Brief Psychotherapy, Solution Focused Therapy, and Human Potential psychology where he found NLP, all of which focus on facilitating the resources of clients. This led to the creation of "empowerment coaching" (1991) and to Meta-Coaching with Michelle Duval (2000). Dr. Hall’s focus has been on the research and development of models that uniquely distance coaching from therapy and posits a new place for Coaching as the facilitation and mobilization of a client's resources to the client’s co-created outcome for the purpose of actualizing the highest and best in the client. To do that, Hall and Duval have to date (2005) created 7 cutting-edge cognitive models to create the revolutionary frameworks for Meta-Coaching.
Dr. Hall's focus at Equilibrio is on breakthrough coaching sessions around business, wealth creation, training, platform skills, and stuttering.
